From ABS-CBN (Feb 26): 2 NPA rebels killed in Davao del Norte clash
Elements of the 60th Infantry Battalion of Philippine Army conducting a focused military operation encountered around 22 New People's Army rebels under Guerilla Front 33 at Sitio Magdao and Sitio Alongan in Barangay Sagayen, Asuncion, Davao Del Norte Sunday morning.
The firefight lasted for 40 minutes which resulted in the death of 2 members of the NPA. Recovered were two AK47 rifles, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), medicines and a backpack containing personal items and documents owned by the NPA.
Asuncion police identified one of the fatalities as Michael Rosquites, 28, a resident of Barangay Igangon, San Isidro Davao Del Norte, while the other is still unidentified.
More than 200 families from affected barangays are currently staying in the evacuation center of Asuncion.
Hot pursuit operations against the NPA are ongoing.
