73rd IB has new commander

From the Philippine Information Agency (Jan 20): 73rd IB has new commander

Maj. Gen. Rafael C Valencia, Commander 10th Infantry Division presided the turn-over of command ceremony of the Battalion Commander of 73rd Infantry Battalion on Thursday (Jan. 19, 2017), held at Headquarters 73IB, Barangay Felis, Malita, Davao Occidental.

Lt. Col. Marion T Angcao assumed as the new commanding officer of 73IB while the outgoing commander, Lt. Col. Felix Ronnie B. Babac will assume as chief of operations in the Division of Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom), Panacan, Davao City.

During the ceremony, Ltc. Babac received various recognition from different stakeholders for his outstanding accomplishment in his area of operations.

To cap his stint as battalion commander, he was selected by the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association Incorporated (PMAAAI) to be the Cavalier Awardee (PMA Outstanding Alumni) for army operations for the year 2016 which will be awarded during the PMA Alumni Homecoming at Fort del Pilar, Baguio City on February 18, 2017.

It can be remembered that Ltc. Babac was credited for dismantling Guerilla Front 75 in 2015 after a fierce encounter of his troops against the rebels on February 15, 2015 in Alabel, Saranggani Province and massive surrender of rebels in 2015.

He also shared 17 times 73IB success story to various members of Philippine Army around the country.

The said activity was attended by sub-unit Commanders, elected and former officials of Davao del Sur, Davao Occidental and Sarangani Province, partners, different stakeholders and Chief Offices Head of LGUs. (73IB)
