CAMP MELCHOR DELA CRUZ, GAMU, Isabela -- The 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army based in this town has raised its security alert level in its area of operations particularly Region 2 and Cordillera region.

The heightened alert is in support to President Rodrigo Duterte’s declaration of “State of Lawlessness” after the bombing in Davao City last Saturday.

Brigadier General Paul Atal, Commanding General of 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army based in this town, said the focus of the heightened alert is to intensify information collection and conduct of measure in coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP) to prevent violent incidents similar to what happened in Davao City.

Atal has called on the public to remain calm, saying the situation in Northern Luzon is far from that of Davao City and other parts of Mindanao.

He assured the public that the soldiers of 5ID are closely working with the PNP to ensure a peaceful and orderly community and to foil any move of lawless elements to sow terror.
