Eastern Mindanao Command (EMC) units are now in hot pursuit
operation against the New People's Army (NPA) band who torched the equipment of
Del Monte Philippines at Purok 3, Barangay Impalutao, Impasugong, Bukidnon
Thursday afternoon.
The incident caused Php 6 million worth of damage and
suspended works in the area, said EMC spokesperson Major Ezra Balagtey.
"The company is a civilian entity and not party to the
conflict and should be spared from attacks as stipulated in the International
Humanitarian Law," he added.
Balagtey said this latest NPA atrocity designed to create a
massive unemployment just like what they did in DOLE Philippines in Barobo and
Tago Surigao del Sur which forced the stoppage of company operations in the
areas due to severe losses.
"This NPA atrocities project a bad image before the
international community which affects the investment and tourism potential of
the region and the country's economy as a whole," he added.
