In line with efforts to mitigate the harsh effects of
typhoons and other calamities, Defense Secretary and National Disaster Risk
Reduction and Management Council chair Delfin Lorenzana is eyeing the
concentrated deployment of all available relief assets to the affected areas.
He reasons that these assets readily available at
calamity-battered areas will greatly increase the government's response
capabilities.
Lorenzana made this statement during the first ever NDRRMC
meeting under the new administration.
Aside from this, he is also planning to coordinate more
closely with the local government units (LGUs) to further strengthen the
country's disaster response capabilities.
"We will work with the LGUs to coordinate our (disaster
relief) efforts," Lorenzana stressed.
