The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Negros Oriental
conducted its security drill and inspection of a vital installation in Valencia
town.
At 9:30 a.m. Friday, a team led by acting Valencia chief of police, Chief Insp. Alfonso A.
Enriquez, conducted a security drill and inspection at the Energy Development
Corporation (EDC)’s geothermal plant in Barangay
Puhagan , Valencia .
The police checked the company’s security preparations
against all forms of terrorist activities and threats, a report from the PNP
Text Blast Project said.
During the inspection, the chief of police conducted an
accounting of all duty guards, firearms and communication capability and
checked the company’s contingency plan in the event an attack will be carried
out by the CNN (Communist Party of the Philippines/New People’s Army/National
Democratic Front) and other terrorist groups.
PNP and Armed Forces of the Philippines ’ detachments securing
the company were also inspected to further enhance their security preparation,
the police report said.
The EDC’s Southern Negros Geothermal Project in Valencia is a
vital installation, which operates a total of 222 megawatts of geothermal power
supplying electricity to Negros Oriental, the Visayas and other areas.
