The country's first two FA-50PH "Fighting Eagle"
will be in the air during the retirement ceremony for Philippine Air Force
(PAF) head Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Delgado on March 9.
This was confirmed by PAF spokesman Col. Enrico Canaya in a
text message to the PNA Friday.
"It's a tradition in the PAF and a time where the
Commanding General PAF reviews his troops and capability the last time before
retirement," he said when asked the reason for the FA-50PHs deployment.
Delgado's retirement ceremony will take place at the
Fernando Air Base, Lipa
City , Batangas this
coming March 9.
He will be stepping down after reaching the mandatory
retirement age of 56.
"It's also an opportunity for pilots to gain
proficiency in formation flying which they do without ceremonies in their
designated training areas as programmed," Canaya further said.
Two of the country's first FA-50PH jet aircraft arrived at
Clark Air Base, Angeles City, Pampanga last Nov. 28.
These two are part of the 12-plane order from Korea
Aerospace Industries which amounted to Php18.9 billion.
