NPA rebel surrenders in Zamboanga del Norte

From the Philippine News Agency (Jan 9): NPA rebel surrenders in Zamboanga del Norte

A New People’s Army (NPA) member surrendered to government authorities in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Saturday.

Chief Inspector Rogelio Alabata, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) information officer, identified the NPA surrenderee as Jan-Jan Lumulan alias Ka Jimmy of the NPA’s Front Committee Feliciano “A.”

Alabata said Lumulan surrendered to police and military authorities around 12:30 a.m. Friday in Barangay Bato, Sindangan.

He said Lumulan, who was accompanied by his mother, have surrendered following series of negotiations that started after he signified intention to surrender.

He said Lumulan was placed under the custody of the Sindangan Municipal Police Station for documentation.
