Posted to the MILF Website (Nov 26): A Documentary Film “Bangsamoro: The Quest for Peace in Mindanao” launched in Quezon City
A documentary film “ Bangsamoro: The Quest for Peace in Mindanao” directed by Boyette Rimban and written by Luz Rimban was launched and shown at Cinema 1, Trinoma Mall, Quezon City at around 10:00 am on November 24. Rimban had worked actively on human rights in Mindanao.
Among the invited guests were Commissioner Al Camlian of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) and Atty. Mohammad Al-Amin Julkipli, member of the legal team of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP).
Nuns, officers of civil society organization (CSO’s) were also invited to witness the launching of the film.
Direk Boyette said he made this documentary film so that Filipinos would deeply understand the Moro history and their struggle in Mindanao.
He also said that it’s hard to bring people from Manila to Mindanao. It is expensive and for security reasons as well.
“Masyadong komplikado yung kuwento ng Mindanao, gusto naming maunawaan nong manunuod ng maayos ang kasaysayan”, Boyette said.
Comm. Camlian when asked by the media, “What will the Moro Islamic Liberation front (MILF) going to do if the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) is not passed by Congress?
He said that the leadership of the MILF will continue to pursue the peace process, but it depends on the Philippine Government.
Rimban said that OPAPP and GPH Peace Panel Chair Prof. Miriam Coronel- Ferrer expressed support to the film and invested time and effort to make the film showing possible.
The documentary film will also be shown in some schools with the help of OPAPP, CHED, and media as well.
