Eastern Samar rebel surrenders

Catbalogan City, Samar – A New People’s Army (NPA) member voluntarily surrendered Tuesday to joint elements of the Philippine Army (PA)’s 14th Infantry Battalion and Intelligence Unit at Vigan village, General MacArthur, Eastern Samar.
 
The PA’s 801st Brigade Commander, Col. Perfect M. Rimando identified the NPA surrenderee as Romeo Belarmente alias Ogaya. Belarmente is identified as a member of the Eastern Visayas Regional Party Committee (EVRPC).
 
He yielded an Ingram (Shooter brand) and one magazine loaded with 16 ammunitions.
 
After undergoing custodial debriefing, Belarmente stands to avail of the Comprehensive Local Social Integration Program (CLIP) which will give him an initial R15,000 immediate cash assistance.
