From GMA News (Jun 28): Leyte police arrest Army man, 2 others for gunrunning

Leyte police arrested an Army soldier and two other suspects for gunrunning on Saturday.
 
According to C./Insp Elizabeth Jasmin, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group arrested PFC Dennis Cardenas of the Army 19th Infantry Battalion, Roel Fumar, and Lenelito Liporada in sting operations in Jaro and Palo towns before noon on Saturday.
 
The suspects had been under police surveillance for two weeks.  
 
According to reports from regional police, the CIDG recovered nine cal.45 pistols, three .38 caliber revolvers, and a .357 revolver.
 
Supt. Bowenn Joey Masauding, chief of the regional Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said Cardenas had been acting as a middleman with prospective gun buyers, most of whom are members of private armed groups in the area.
 
The three face charges for violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Law.
