PALAWAN, Philippines — United States Col. Keith Sargi, senior National Guard adviser for US Army Pacific, talks about what moved him in attending the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Palawan from Japanese forces in World War 2.

In a video released by the US Marine Corps, Sargi said he and other American servicemen who attended the event, the first time it was held in decades, are a part of the Philippines-US joint military exercises Balikatan 2015.

This year marks the 31st iteration of the bilateral exercise, which which includes humanitarian civic assistance engagement.
