A pursuing trooper from the 1st Scout Rangr Battalion was slightly wounded during a clash with an undetermined number of Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) bandits in Timbangan, Indanan town, Sulu Sunday early morning.

These soldiers are part of the operation pursuing ASG leader Radullan Sahiron and his remaining men.

Col. Alan Arrojado, Joint Task Force Sulu commander, said the firefight which lasted for two minutes started 12: 30 a.m.

One soldier was slightly wounded in the eye while the bandits sustained an undetermined number of casualties.

Arrojado added that ASGs encountered in this patrol mission are part of the group securing ASG sub-leaders Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan and Hatib Asari Sadjari, who were both wounded, during an earlier encounter in Barangay Gata.

The two are reportedly undergoing treatment at the Datag Kalih boundary of Barangays Panglayahan and Kabuntakas.
