Military authorities here lauded the proper coordination between the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) which led to a foiled bombing attempt at a bus here Thusday.

CAPT.  Joann Petinglay, Army’s 6th Infantry Division spokesperson said the immediate coordination and collaboration made by the security forces in the area of the 6th ID had successfully resulted in the disruption of the possible terror attack.

“Proper coordination once again as been proven to be effective in fighting terrorism,” Petinglay said.

MAJ General Pangilinan, 6th ID Commander, said that the troops should continue the good relationship in order to prevent the “bad men” from implementing their terror plans.

“I am calling among all civilians to be extra vigilant and watchful especially in public places and to help look after the security situation in their respective communities in order to preempt terror activities from taking place,” Pangilinan said.

Army and police authorities in Tacurong City prevented what could have been a bloody Thursday morning when it disrupted a power improvised explosive devise inside a Yellow Bus Line unit in Barrioi Dos, Tacurong City at 10:30 A. M.

SUPT Junnie Buenacosa, a Tacurong City Police Chief, said before the discovery of the IED fashioned from two 60 MM mortars and a rocket propelled grenade inside the yellow bus with the body number 9208, police and military authorities had been receiving intelligence reports about a bomb plot in the city.

Because of this, the Taurong City PNP deployed plain clothes and uniformed policemen back by elements of Task Force Talakudong in populated areas of the city, including churches, pubic markets and bus terminals.

At past 10 A.M. three men were seen hurriedly disembarking from the yellow bus after it left the Tacurong City Terminal.

The trio did not carry any baggage. This prompted the police to accost them but they denied leaving a bomb on in the bus.

Heading for Isulan, the bus loaded with about 20 passengers was flagged down by members of the Regional Public Safety Battalion stationed in Barangay Barrio Dos, Tacurong City.

A bomb was found at the rear portion of the bus and was safely deactivated by Army bomb disposal team members, preventing a bloody Thursday morning.

It was the second bombing attempt in Central Mindanao since Maundy Thursday where a grenade and an IED were found near the Cotabato Regional Medical Center in Cotabato City.

On Wednesday dawn, an IED exploded inside the compound of the National Irrigation Administration in Midsayap, North Cotabato. A grenade was also sound inside but did not explode.
