From the Philippine News Agency (Feb 17): Army pursue rebels that gunned down trike driver in Sorsogon

Troopers from the 9th Infantry Division are now pursuing the New People's Army (NPA) band that shot dead a tricycle driver in Matnog town, Sorsogon Monday afternoon.

The incident took place 3 p.m., according to Capt. Mardjorie Paimela Panesa, 9th Infantry Division spokesperson.

She identified the victim as Dione Pantone, a resident of Barangay Tabunan, Matnog town.

Panesa said Patone was heading for home aboard his tricycle (EV-2732) when shot three times by three NPA fighters armed with .45 caliber pistols.

The victim died on the spot while the rebels, who are believed to be members of the NPA's Larangan 2, KOMPROB-Sorsogon, immediately made their getaway.

Recovered from the crime scene were spent .45 caliber shells. Investigators are still determining the rebel motive for the attack.
