Interior and Local Government Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas
II on Monday honored the members of the PNP Special Action Force (SAF) who were
killed in clashes with Muslim rebels in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.
Tamis dahil foundation day ng PNP and the PNP has much to be proud of.
I wish to give honor to our fallen
comrades,” Roxas said during the 24th PNP Foundation Day held in Camp Crame .
Flags in police camps nationwide were placed on half-mast in
honor of the fallen SAF men in Mamasapano, Maguindanao on Sunday.
”We had a flag raising and now the flag stands at half-mast.
It is at half-mast in all PNP camps all over the country (which) signifies our
respect, our admiration, our acknowledgment of the ultimate sacrifice of our
reverend, they in the line of duty for each other, for their unit, for their
unity, for our people and for the country,” he said.
” Every time there is a burial ceremony for one of our
fallen, the flag that drapes the casket is folded reverently then given to the
widow, and to the family of the fallen. The words on behalf of a grateful
nation are spoken to the family. We are grateful for the sacrifice of our
fellow PNP officers and men. We acknowledge their courage and recognize their
bravery and hold in high esteem the character of their person and of their duty
that brought them to this death,” he added.
Meanwhile, Roxas assured that the government will give
support to the families of PNP officers who died.“Asahan po ninyo na
ng inyong kalungkutan at pagdaramdam,” he noted.
As of this posting, Roxas, together with PNP
Officer-in-charge Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina are now in Cotobato
for a closed door meeting with local officials.
Kasama si Sec. Volts Gazmin, Chief-of-Staff of the Armed
unipormadong serbisyo. There are conflicting reports sa bilang ng mga namatay
dito sa engkwentro na ito. Pabago-bago depende sa report. Ang masasabi ko lang,
whether it's plus one, minus one, o anuman, siguro kapag opisyal na, doon
