The Philippine Navy (PN) has announced that it is acquiring
force protection equipment to protect its Marines from injuries caused by
bullets and explosive fragments, according to PN vice commander Rear Admiral
Caesar Taccad.
"The force protection equipment for the Marines is to
protect them from injuries caused by projectiles and shrapnel with minimal
restriction to their movement," he said.
The project is now for opening of letter of credit and the
equipment is expected to be in service within 2015.
Sufficient units are to be acquired to equip the PN's three
Marine brigades, Taccad said.
