Three suspected members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters were killed and two soldiers injured in an encounter in Shariff Saidona Mustapha in Maguindanao early Monday morning, said a government report.
Elements of the 45th Infantry Battalion engaged the BIFF group, led by Commander Bisaya and Samad, for nearly two hours, according to the chief of the public affairs office of the 6th Infantry Division, Capt. Joan Petinglay.
The soldiers sustained minor injuries only.
The three BIFF members were identified only as Samsudin, Karim and Abdullah.
The firefight erupted as two military platoons were on patrol early Monday morning in Barangay Nabundas, and they encountered the BIFF.
The entire 6th ID remains on full alert.
