From the Manila Standard Today (Nov 21): De Leon named chief AFP prober

President Benigno Aquino III has appointed Army Major General Benito de Leon as Inspector General of the Armed Forces of the Philippines based at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.

De Leon, a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Dimalupig” Class 1981, is currently the commander of the 5th Infantry Division based at Camp dela Cruz in Gamu, Isabela.

De Leon will assume his new position on Friday, replacing Rear Admiral Zyril Carlos (PMA “Mapitagan” Class 1980). He will act as the military’s chief investigator sorting out complaints involving officers and enlisted men.

De Leon, also former chief of the AFP Training and Doctrine Command at Camp O’Donnell in Capas, Tarlac, is “mistah” (classmate) of AFP chief Gen. Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. and former AFP chief Gen. Emmanuel Bautista.
