From GMA News (Oct 17): NPA leader with P4.8-M bounty arrested in Tagum City

A ranking leader of the communist New People’s Army (NPA) has been arrested in Tagum City, a statement from the Army's Eastern Mindanao Command said Friday.

According to Eastern Mindanao Command spokesman Cpt. Alberto Caber, security forces arrested Dominiciano Muya on Thursday while he was riding a motorcycle at a joint army and police checkpoint.

Muya, who had a P4.8 million bounty during the arrest, was wanted for multiple crimes including robbery with double homicide, damage to properties, multiple murder and double frustrated murder.


He has pending warrants of arrest against him for these crimes filed in Agusan del Sur and Bukidnon.

Confiscated from him were a cal 45 pistol, a hand grenade, mobile phones and various documents.

Muya was allegedly involved in the killing of P01 Marito Correos and P01 Rey Ejercito in Bayugan, Agusan del Sur, on June 19, 2004.

He is also believed to be responsible for the killing of 2Lt. Lucresio Julampong Jr in Brgy Bantawan, Baganga, Davao Oriental on June 14, 2009.


Muya is a former staff of the NPA's Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee and former Secretary of Guerilla Front 18 of the Southern Mindanao Regional Party Committee, Caber said.
