PA, ABS-CBN hands over school building to Casiguran, Aurora

From the Philippine News Agency (Mar 17): PA, ABS-CBN hands over school building to Casiguran, Aurora

The Philippine Army (PA) and ABS–CBN "Sagip Kapamilya" turned over a school building for the students of Casiguran, Aurora during a simple ceremony on Monday.

Army commander Major Gen. Hernando DCA Iriberri, together with Tina Monson-Palma, formally handed over a two-unit classroom to the school authorities of Casiguran National High School, with the presence of local officials of the municipality.

The project was jointly undertaken by the Northern Luzon Command, the Army’s 7th Infantry Division, the 522nd Engineering Battalion, and the ABS-CBN Foundation, Inc. – Sagip Kapamilya; and secured by the 56th Infantry Battalion.

It can be recalled that Aurora was struck by Typhoon "Labuyo" last Aug. 12, affecting many towns including Casiguran.

It became isolated for days due to the impassable roads.

Electricity was also down and houses and schools were destroyed by the strong winds.

In his speech, Iriberri said he strongly admires the resiliency of every Filipino.

As embodied in the Internal Peace and Security Plan (IPSP) Bayanihan, the PA engages with other stakeholders to help deliver basic services to the people.
