From InterAksyon (Jul 24): Suspected rebels gun down ex-cop in Sorsogon
A retired policeman was shot dead Wednesday morning by suspected communist rebels near a checkpoint of the Highway Patrol Group in Barangay Gadgaron, Matnog, Sorsogon.
Superintendent Renato Bataller, spokesman of Regional Police Office 5, said Virgilio Miguel Garra, who retired a senior police officer 1 and spent his last year in the service with the National Capital Regional Police Office, was gunned down in front of his residence.
The former policeman died immediately when he was shot twice in the head with a .45 caliber pistol.
