From the Philippine News Agency (Jul 18): Rebel surrenders to Army troopers in Surigao Del Sur
Tired of the incessant fighting, a New People's Army (NPA) fighter
voluntarily surrendered including his weapon, a M-4A1 automatic rifle, to
troopers of the 36th Infantry Battalion, 4th Infantry Division stationed in
Barangay Dayo-an, Tago, Surigao Del Sur Wednesday noon.
Lt. Col. Leo Bongasio, 4th Infantry Division spokesperson, declined to
identify the surrendered NPA fighter for security reasons.
He added that the latter is now undergoing custodial debriefing.
