From the Philippine News Agency (May 21): NPA rebel surrenders in Agusan del Sur

An armed communist New People Army rebel surrendered to the military in Agusan del Sur, Maj. Leo Bongosia, spokesperson of the army’s 4th Infantry Division here said on Tuesday.

Bongos identified the man as Gino Mandahinog Mansinogdan, alias “Seme,” a member of the NPA’s propaganda unit of the Guerrilla Front 88, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee.

He said the NPA rebel turned over his service firearms - an AK-47 assault rifle and a magazine loaded with 20 rounds of live ammunition.

According to Bongosia, Mandahinog turned himself to Lt. Col. Jose Leonard B Gille, Commanding Officer, of the army 26th Infantry Battalion in Talacogon, Agusan del Sur last Saturday.

He said Mandahinog was turned over to the army’s main headquarters here where he is undergoing debriefing the army’s 26th Infantry Battalion.
