From the Manila Bulletin (Mar 30): Surigao del norte PAMANA fund

SURIGAO CITY – The Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte received more than P105, 071, 401.47 budget allocation for the implementation of various projects under the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) program, it was learned yesterday.

It was also learned that the budget, covering 8 different projects, were received by the officials of the provincial government from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG-13) at the DILG regional office here on Tuesday.

Region Xlll DILG Regional Director Lilibeth A. Famacion handed the check to Mr. Eusebio B. Lisondra Jr., PAMANA Focal Person of the province of Surigao del Norte.
Director Famacion said that the DILG-PAMANA fund is for the implementation of infrastructure projects which ensures participation and inclusion of the community in the conflict-affected areas.

“Through this mechanism, the PAMANA objectives, such as poverty-reduction, capacity-building and improved governance will be achieved,” added Director Famacion.

PAMANA projects in the province of Surigao del Norte include the construction of Campo-Little Baguio Road in Bacuag; rehabilitation of Pili-Karihatag Road in Malimono town; rehabilitation of Pinaypayan-Brazil Road in Mat-I, Surigao City; rehabilitation of Cantapoy-Villariza Road in Malimono town; rehabilitation of Diaz-Magtangale Road in San Francisco; construction of 50 meter Bailey Bridge Cantugas in Mainit; construction of Banban-Magsaysay in Placer Road in Placer town; and rehabilitation of Antipolo-Tuburan-Quezon in Del Carmen town, all of Surigao del Norte.

Surigao del Norte 1st District solon Rep. Francisco T. Matugas and Gov. Sol. F. Matugas expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Benigno S. Aquino III for the continuing support of the province.

The implementation of PAMANA projects is part of President Aquino’s social contract with the Filipino people in broadly-seeking just and lasting peace in Mindanao through a rapid, inclusive and sustained economic growth.

“This is really a big help in our continuing program for peace and development,” said in unison Rep. Matugas and Gov. Matugas.
