Kaisa-Ka is a sectoral front for women and is a member of the umbrella front organization Kilusan Para sa Pambansang Demokrasya (Movement for National Democracy). Both groups are front organizations associated with the Marxist Leninist Party of the Philippines (MLPP. The MLPP broke away from the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) sometime in 1998 following the period of ideological wrangling that took place within the CPP in the mid-1990s.
