From the Philippine News Agency (Feb 2): NPA rebels burn container van owned
by Dole Phil.
Communist rebels burned a truck loaded with a container van of Dole Phils. in
San Agustin, Surigao Del Sur Friday, an army report said Saturday.
Lt. Hazel A. Tabago, spokesperson of the army’s 401st Infantry Brigade, said
the rebels flagged down the truck along the national highway in barangay
Salvacion, San Agustin past 8 a.m. Friday.
Tabago said the army’s 401st dispatched a team of soldiers to pursue the
fleeing rebels believed to be members of the Guerrilla Front 19A, North Eastern
Mindanao Regional Committee.
Col. Romeo G. Gan, commander of the army’s 401st IB, condemned the burning
incident and ordered troops to pursue the ‘criminals.’
