From the Philippine Star (Oct 3): Gov't confident to bring home framework pact from talks with MILF in Malaysia

The Philippine government said on Wednesday it is confident that its peace panel led by Marvic Leonen would bring home a framework agreement after its 32nd formal talks with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda told a news briefing that there appeared to be no hindrances to the signing of a final peace agreement between the government and the MILF before year-end....

  1. In the past, government negotiators have tended to be overly optimistic in their assessment of the likelihood of a peace agreement.
