ILOILO City – Five New People’s Army (NPA) rebels voluntarily surrendered to the 606th Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB-6).

The five, all residents of Barangay Binolusan, Calinog, Iloilo, handed over their firearms on Wednesday, June 21.

They turned over three long-barreled 12-gauge shotguns, a short-barreled 12-gauge shotgun, a .38 revolver, and four live 12-gauge ammunition.


Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor said it was a big help in attaining peace and order in Western Visayas.

“Patuloypokamingmanghihikayatngatingmamamayannanaligawnglandasnamagbalik-loobnasaatinggobyerno. Hindi po kami titigilsapaglabankontraterorismo. Sa atingmamamayan, patuloypotayongmagtulunganparamataposnaanglabangito at mamuhayng may kapayaan at kaunlaran,”Villaflor added.

Last week, 103 rebels also surrendered to the PRO-6 through the efforts of the Local Peace Engagement and PRO-6’s Retooled Community Support Program teams.

One was from Calinog town, while the other 102 rebels were from Barangay BinolusanPequeño, Calinog under the KRP Central Front Committee.

They surrendered seven pieces of homemade long-barreled shotguns, six short shotguns, four 12-gauge ammunition, and four magazines of 12-gauge shotgun.


All surrendered items were under the custody of the 606th Company RMFB-6 for proper disposition.
