A Scout Ranger soldier tries the power of an M16 rifle at a shooting range
MANILA — An individual associated with the New People’s Army (NPA) turned himself in along with a firearm in Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro, on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
The voluntary surrender of the person known by the aliases Paul/Andro/Crispin/Nanding was facilitated by the 203rd Infantry “Bantay Kapayapaan” Brigade and the Occidental Mindoro Philippine National Police (PNP).
They handed over an M16 Rifle, accompanied by a long magazine containing 23 rounds of ammunition, in Barangay Poblacion, Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro.
Alias Paul allegedly held the position of finance officer within the Sub-Regional Military Area 4D of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee.
“We are dedicated to continuing our peace initiatives alongside our partner stakeholders to put an end to insurgency in Occidental Mindoro. We encourage the remaining NPA rebels to emulate their former comrades and relinquish their weapons, as the government stands ready to provide the necessary support for them to start anew and rebuild their lives with their families,” stated Major General Roberto S. Capulong, the Commander of the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division.
