CAMP GERONA, MURCIA, Negros Occidental – One (1) member of NPA Terrorists was killed and firearm with magazines were seized after an encounter between the government troops of 62nd Infantry Battalion in the hinterland of Sitio Banderahan, Brgy Trinidad, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental at around 6:00 A.M. today, November 21, 2022 (Monday).

Concerned residents of Brgy Trinidad, fed-up with NPA terrorist extortion activities and intimidations, gave valuable information on their presence at Sitio Banderahan to government forces. Immediately, 62IB sent out troops to verify the information and while the troops are approaching the area, they were fired upon by the NPAs which ensued to a 5-minute gun battle. Said incident resulted to the death of Victor Baldonado @ Rudy and the capture of one (1) M16 rifle with 3 magazines loaded with 43 rounds of ammunitions. Also recovered is a backpack containing personal belongings and accessories. @RUDY is the Commanding Officer of Section Guerrilla Unit 3 (SGU3), Central Negros Front 1(CN1), Komiteng Rehiyon Negros, Cebu, Bohol, and Siquijor (KR-NCBS) operating along the tri-boundaries of Guihulngan City, Canlaon City, both of Negros Oriental and Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental.

Based on record, Victor Baldonado @ Rudy and his group is responsible for numerous human rights violations, which include the following: Merciless killing of CAA Joselito Raboy last September 24, 2022 in Brgy Montilla, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, Harassment of PNP Detachment in Brgy Trinidad, Guihulngan City last September 10, 2022 and November 1, 2022 and Threats and intimidation of peace-loving residents suspected of being government informants along the tri-boundaries of Guihulngan, Canlaon and Moises Padilla.

Meanwhile, Brigadier General Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd Infantry Brigade Commander lauded the locals of Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental for their continued support especially in providing timely information to the troops of 62IB. He also expressed his appreciation to 62IB headed by Lt.Colonel William Pesase Jr., Battalion Commander, and said, “The dedication to duty of the 62IB exhibited during the encounter against the members of NPA terrorist group for the people of Negros Oriental is incomparable. Continue to be the best in going after this NPA terrorist. I am proud of the efforts and selfless dedication to service that you have rendered. I know that you are always prepared and ready to conduct security operations and employ the legitimate use of force against threat groups that endangers the well-being of the people especially the Guihulnganons. Let us unite and encourage the remaining NPA members to return to the folds of law and avail our government’s E-CLIP program,” BGen Pasaporte added.
