2 Negros mayors get awards from AFP

Two Negros Island mayors were honored and recognized by the Armed Forces of the Philippines Visayas Command on February 9 at Camp Lapu-Lapu in Cebu City, in recognition of their effort in assisting state security forces for the preservation of peace and order, in the respective areas.

La Castellana Mayor Alme Rhumyla Nicor-Mangilimutan and Guihulngan City Mayor Carlo Jorge Joan Reyes were conferred with “Stakeholder’s Recognition” plaques by Lt. Gen. Robert Dauz during 88th founding anniversary of the AFP Visayas Command.

Mangilimutan was cited by the AFP for her unrelenting support and commitment to the Medal of Valor Recognition Project that gave timeless recognition to the heroism of Filipino soldiers and promote patriotism which were instrumental to the successful attainment of the Visayas Command’s mission of sustaining peace, security and development in the Visayas.

On the other hand, Reyes was recognized for his unrelenting support and commitment to the implementation of Whole-of-Nation Initiatives to End Local Communists Armed Conflict in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.

Before she became a mayor of La Castellana, Mangilimutan used to be a member of the Philippine National Police.

On the other hand, the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division headed by Maj. Gen. Benedict Arevalo also received a plaque of recognition from the Department of Social Welfare and Development on Feb. 10, in recognition of its outstanding contribution to the pursuance of DWSD mission in Western and Central Visayas.
