The Philippine Navy's landing craft, BRP Waray (LC-288), has conducted humanitarian assistance and disaster response activities for communities severely affected by Typhoon Odette in Taytay, Palawan on Thursday.

"BRP Waray under the command of Commander Danish M. Ruiz conducted humanitarian assistance and disaster response activities on 06 January 2022 at Liminangcong Pier, Taytay, Palawan. This was undertaken in partnership with various civilian organizations and other stakeholders like Malampaya Foundation, Philippine Women Judges Association, DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development) Mimaropa," the Philippine Fleet said in a Facebook post on Friday.

The BRP Waray joined the offloading activities of almost a hundred tons of donated relief goods together with the members of the Navy's multi-purpose assault craft (MPAC) BA484, Philippine Coast Guard, Marine Battalion Landing Team 3, Civil Military Group Philippine Navy, and local government unit representatives.

"Also at 6 a.m., this morning LC-288 transferred three tons of assorted relief goods to FF-150 (BRP Jose Rizal) via BA-484 in the waters off Miniloc Island, El Nido, Palawan. These care packs are intended to provide relief to the affected residents of Macarascas, Puerto Princesa City," the Philippine Fleet added.

It also added that the Philippine Navy will continuously provide naval assistance in support of all efforts aimed at healing and mitigating the after-effects of “Odette” in the affected provinces of the country.
