From Kalinaw News (Mar 13, 2021): 4 Former Rebels Receive Orientation and Financial Management Training from DSWD,DTI and Army’s 48th Infantry Battalion



Bislig City, Surigao del Sur – Fourteen (14) Former Rebels attended and received an Orientation and Financial Management Training from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) CARAGA Region, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and 48th Infantry (Guardians) Battalion on March 12, 2021 at 48IB Headquarters, Purok 1, Brgy Maharlika, Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.

The activity aims to help and prepare the FRs to properly manage the different financial and livelihood assistance they will be receiving from the different agencies of the government after returning to the folds of law. It also seeks to provide literacy on establishing business and financial management in the duration of living and returning to a normal and peaceful life.

DSWD CARAGA Project Development Officer II James Harold G. Jimeno discussed the Livelihood Settlement Grant (SLG) of the DSWD while DTI Senior Business Councilor Negosyo Center Bislig representative Elmer Penados facilitated the profiling of the FR for their DTI – Assisted Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME).

“Currently may project kami (DSWD) na Livelihood Settlement Grant which means giving financial assistance directly to Former Rebels amounting to Php20,000.00.Nindot makipagpartner sa Philippine Army especially sa 48IB kay accomodating at the same time easy to communicate, ” said Mr. Jimeno.

Lieutenant Colonel Enrique G. Rafael, Acting Commanding Officer 48IB said , “This is to show the sincerity of the government to end the local armed conflict and also one way of preventing the CTG’s deceptive recruitment in the vulnerable sectors as well as to prevent their recovery efforts from their former mass bases. The intensified development and peace-building initiatives like these anchored in Executive Order No. 70 paved a way to an inclusive and sustainable peace we all aim for. Buo and suporta ng 48IB sa inyo (FR) ganun din sa iba’ t-ibang ahensiya ng gobyerno.”
