TALACOGON, Agusan del Sur -Three (3) New People’s Army which include a NPA couple yielded to the PLEDS (Peace, Law Enforcement and Development Support) cluster of San Luis TF-ELCAC (Task Force- End Local Communist Armed Conflict) on 31 May 2020.
The NPA couple was identified as alyas “Mark” and alyas “Mariane”, both members of Sub-Regional Committee 3 of North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (SRC3, NCMRC) of the terrorist NPAs, and alyas “Ariel”, former squad leader of Squad1, Platoon 2 of NCMRC. They brought along with them one (1) M16 AR18 Rifle, one (1) Cal. 45 pistol, and one (1) KG9 rifle, all with magazines and ammunitions.
The surrenderees uttered on how they were recruited by the communist NPAs which later poisoned their minds with their false ideology causing them to hate the government. “Sa mga panahon nga ako naglihok sa NPA, akung nasuta nga sukwahi ang ilang (NPA) propaganda sa ilang gipangbuhat. Ang ilang giingon nga patas daw nga pagtratar sa kada usa, dili man tinuod, maayo pud ang ilang pag ilad sa mga katawhan para makakuha ug simpatya ug masuko ang katawhan sa gobyerno”, alyas Mariane said. (For the longest time I spent with the armed groups, I realized that their propaganda was in conflict with their wrong doings. What they said about equal treatment to all was far from the truth. They are well- known for making deceptive, malicious and fake informations to solicit support from the people and agitate them to hate the government)
“Espesyal ang pagtratar pag pamilya sa kumander ang suportahan, kung sama ra sa amua nga elemento, halos makimalooy pa mi arun matabangan ug mahatag ang mga panginahanglan sa amuang pamilya.”, alyas Mark added. (The family of the commander are well treated. But for us who are just mere elements of the group, we almost have to beg for help for our family’s needs.
“Grabe nga sakripisyo ang akong gihatag para sa kalihukan, apan niabot ang panahon nga ila kong gidudahan nga traydor ug espiya daw ko sa sundalo. Mao nga nagsurrender ko ky basin ko nila patyon, ug nagpasalamat ko sa mga tao nga naghatag sa akua ug higayon nga makasurrender”, alyas Ariel stated.(I have sacrificed so much for the NPA movement until the time came that they suspected me of being a traitor and a spy of the Philippine Army. Fear for my life pushed me to surrender, and so, i thank the people who gave me a chance and assisted me to surrender.)
Meanwhile, Lt Col Romeo C Jimenea applauded the MTF- ELCAC through its PLEDS cluster for the efforts on facilitating the former NPAs to surrender. Likewise, he gratefully welcomed the Former Rebels to 26IB headquarters and congratulated them for their decision. “We are very grateful that due to our continuous effort on reaching out to our fellow citizens who joined the NPA movement, they are now able to realize the futility of their armed struggle. Rejoice, for you will be reunited with your families”, Lt Col Jimenea said.
“With the support of our local government in the area through empowering TF-ELCAC, we are hoping more will surrender, and time will come that this longed years of armed struggle will perished”, he added.
Meanwhile, the three FRs are now undergoing custodial and stress debriefing prior to their enrollment to the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program.
