The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) received 10 vehicles worth P14.1 million that were donated by the Armed Forces and Police Mutual Benefit Association, Inc. (AFPMBAI) in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City on Monday.
General Felimon Santos Jr., AFP Chief of Staff, said the donations will enhance the mobility and logistics operations of the military especially in the on-going fight against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
Santos received one minibus, five vans, and four multi-purpose vehicles from retired Major General Robert Arevalo, AFPMBAI President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).The AFP General Headquarters and the Philippine Army will be the recipients of the donations, he said.
As such, the top military commander expressed his gratitude to the AFPMBAI for its “unceasing generosity” to the AFP.
“We hope that the private sector like the AFPMBAI will never get tired of assisting and cooperating with the public sector, and the bayanihan spirit to continue to inspire each and every one of us especially in this time of crisis brought by the COVID19,” Santos said.
Vice Admiral Gaudencio Collado Jr., AFP Vice Chief of Staff, and Major General Reynaldo Aquino, Vice Commander of the Philippine Army joined Santos in the turnover ceremony.
In May 2020, the AFPMBAI also donated P26 million worth of medical equipment to the AFP which were distributed to various military medical facilities.
