Davao City – The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) organized a Donors’ Forum and discussed the 12 Point Education Agenda of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) on Saturday, November 30 at Davao City.

The donors’ forum aims to share the MBHTE development agenda to the partners, map out all education-related development interventions in BARMM, secure support for priorities, and to explore the establishment of a coordination mechanism.

In his welcome remarks, Atty. Haron Meling, Iqbal’s Chief of Staff said “We hope that this donors’ briefing is the beginning of our strengthened partnership.”

MBHTE Minister Mohagher Iqbal presented the following 12-point agenda of the MBHTE: t

1. Inclusive Bangsamoro Education Code, 2. 1 million learners enrolled in Bangsamoro

3. Accessible quality of education for all learners, 4. One professional for every family

5.Quality teachers and education managers, 6. Schools safe for learning and development

7. Prioritizing welfare of students with disability, 8. Comprehensive health and nutrition programs in schools,

9. Encourage parents to invest in education, 10. Working with BARMM ministries and LGUs and community leaders

11. Good governance practices, 12. Learning good practices from international experience.


The MBHTE's partner organizations who graced the activity were the Australian Aid/Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Islamic Relief Worldwide Philippines, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) ABC+, Save the Children, World Bank, World Food Programme, United Nations Development Programme, (UNDP), Synergeia, Community and Family Services (CFSI), United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF), UNFPA, United Nation International Labour Organization (UN ILO), The Asia Foundation, Philippine Business (PBSP), Agency for technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED), and Education Pathways to Peace in Mindanao.

The program has solicited recommendations among partners on How can the donor. Community and the Ministry communicate more effectively which each other? In terms of communication, how can donors avoid duplication of activities through coordination, and cooperation.

Iqbal said that there will be a coordination mechanism which will be set-up next year to strengthen the coordination of all the partner donors of the MBHTE
