BASILAN, Philippines -- A member of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Active Auxillaries was killed while 4 others were wounded during a shooting incident in Basilan on Sunday morning, July 14.
Investigation showed that 45-year-old Norman Aramal was on duty at his post as CAA detachment sentinel at Barangay Central in Sumisip town when he was attacked by an Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) led by Pasil Bayali.
Four other civilians were wounded in the attack, including 50-year-old Ernesto Acalul, 11-year-old Alwari Baakal, 11-year-old Sheila Make Baakal, and 32-year-old Nursali Asakali. All are residents of Sumisip.

Authorities disclosed that after the incident, the suspects fled toward west direction.
The wounded were brought to Basilan Community Hospital in Isabela City for medical treatment while ongoing follow-up operation is being conducted for the possible arrest of the suspects.
