JAPAN-PHILIPPINES SHARES INSIGHTS ON NATIONAL SECURITY OPERATIONS
Camp Aquino, Tarlac City – Students from the Joint Staff College of the Japan Self-Defense Force headed by Captain Katsuya Yamamoto visited Northern Luzon Command last Thursday (June 06, 2019) as part of their course enhancement program.
Commander NOLCOM, LtGen Emmanuel B Salamat personally welcomed Capt. Yamamoto and his party, and briefly shared his insights of Japan's beauty and its rich cultural heritage of which he was able to observe from his visit in Japan.
The visit of the Japanese delegates aims to help the students from Joint Staff College of the Japan Self-Defense Force have a better understanding of Northern Luzon Command’s mission, various policies, and initiatives in addressing current and emerging threats to National Security.
Academic exchanges on regional security issues, challenges and initiatives of both countries' and the bilateral or multilateral training exercises that both are engaged in took place to learn best practices and enhance interoperability between them.
Captain Katsuya Yamamoto, their head delegate expressed that Japan is increasing their cooperation exercises/training with other Armed Forces which can be seen from their previous involvement in combined military exercises like Rim of the Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC), and Balikatan Exercises.
The event that transpired is a manifestation of the good relationship between Japan and the Philippines. NOLCOM aims to further strengthen the goodwill between said countries and work together towards a common goal of increasing interoperability in warding off Security challenges of common interest between both countries.
