MLANG, NORTH COTABATO- Gains from the peace process by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) are also shared by Bangsamoro people”, said Professor Esmael A. Abdula, President of Kalilintad Peacebuilding Institute and member of Bangsamoro Leadership and Management Institute Steering Committee.
In a peace forum on March 25 in Mlang, North Cotabato organized by the Municipal Political Committee of the MILF in North Cotabato, Abdula also explained the context of Bangsamoro peace process with the Government of the Philippines (GPH) to end decades of bloody armed conflict, and achieve lasting peace in Mindanao.
“We need to undertake series of the peace forum to level off our understanding of the Bangsamoro Peace process”, Abdula said.
“We need to manage our frustration even if it is painful to every one of us, and to continue our support to the current Philippine Government, and the MILF Peace Implementation Process. Sometimes, frustrations are challenges imposed on us by the Almighty to test how persevere, and patient we are,” Abdula told the participants.
“For the past decades, the Bangsamoro People has been fighting for identity, homeland/region where they can freely practice their culture, belief, customs and tradition”, Abdula added.
The key to achieving a comprehensive and lasting solution to the Mindanao Problem is the passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) which is contained in the Comprehensive Agreement on Bangsamoro (CAB) signed by the GPH, and the MILF in 2014.
