From the Manila Times (Dec 17): Negros oks P50-M Peace and Order Plan
The Provincial Peace and Order Council of Negros Occidental approved the proposed P50-million peace and order plans and programs for 2018 during its 4th quarter meeting recently.
Ma. Lina Sanogal, PPOC action officer, said that P15-million of the newly-approved fund, is allocated for intelligence data gathering, including various peace and order programs and projects.
The resolution also grants the authority to Gov. Alfredo MaraƱon Jr. to prioritize peace and order projects for implementation next year.
She added that the PPOC also passed a resolution supporting the proposal of Kapatiran, formerly known as the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade (RPA-ABB), for Community-Based Forest Management Agreement (CBFMA), in connection with the proposed Pamana peace and development community site in Barangay Locotan, Kabankalan City.
Under the CBFMA, Kapatiran members will have an opportunity to participate in managing and sustaining the reforestation program of the provincial government.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources hired former RPA-ABB members as forest guards in Negros Occidental.
