An alleged financier and member of the Islamic State-inspired Maute Group has been arrested in Valenzuela City, police said Monday.
The suspect, Aminkisa Romato Macadato, is on Martial Law Arrest Orders 1 and 2 of the Department of National Defense's Office of the Martial Law Administrator.
Macadato is accused of involvement in the rebellion in Mindanao and is allegedly connected to the Maute-ISIS local terrorist group, police said.
He is a nephew of Farhana Maute, the matriarch of the Maute brothers; and is a son of Ibrahim Macadato, a former Butig, Lanao del Sur mayor.
Armed with a search warrant, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-NCR), CIDG Eastern Police District, and the Philippine Army arrested Macadato in Unit No. 185 on P. Santiago Street, Paso De Blas in Valenzuela City.
Military and police intel reports said Macadato was involved in the Maute attack on the Charlie Company, 51st Infantry Batallion detachment in Brgy. Bayabao, Butig Lanao del Sur last February 20, 2016.
Even before the Maute attack in Marawi City, Macadato helped facilitate the collection of firearms, ammunition, and food deliveries, the intel reports added.
He also allegedly helped members of the Maute-ISIS group in Butig, Lanao del Sur and was reportedly in contact with terror suspects in the main battle area in Marawi.
A gun and grenade were found in Macadato’s possession during the time of his arrest.
Macadato has been charged with violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and Republic Act 9516 or an Act Further Amending the Provisions of Presidential Decree No. 1866 on the illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
