CAGAYAN DE ORO, Philippines – Two Vietnamese fishermen were killed in an encounter with the Philippine Navy in the West Philippine Sea.

Five other Vietnamese fishermen were arrested, according to a source privy to the incident.

The Vietnamese fishermen were reportedly fishing near the province of Pangasinan, inside the country's exclusive economic zone (EEZ).

Philippine Navy chief Vice Admiral Ronald Mercado told Rappler that he has ordered an investigation into what happened.
