TWO ALLEGED members of New People’s Army ( NPA) were arrested by the 67th Infantry Battalion after they were caught detonating an improvised explosive device at Sitio Magong-ong, Barangay San Rafael, Cateel, Davao Oriental on Saturday afternoon.
Capt. Alexandre Cabales, acting chief of Division Public Affairs Office (DPAO), said the troops of 67th IB on board two KM450 from Sitio Yapsay, Barangay Taytayan, Cateel were heading towards Sitio Tagadao,San Rafael when an IED exploded at around 1 p.m.
The troops immediately jumped from the vehicles and assumed defensive positions.
Two suspects were then arrested in a follow-up operation. They were identified as Ronron Bacquiao alias Gong-gong and Jodel Nunez alias JB who was allegedly the one who triggered the device.
They recovered a backpack from the suspect containing one cellphone, one blasting cap, one set of battery and 50-meter electrical wire.
The apprehended suspects were interrogated and presented to the Cateel police for proper filing of cases.
