From GMA News (Mar 7): Authorities kill 2 Maute-linked drug suspects in Lanao del Sur

Two drug suspects with alleged links to terrorists Maute group were killed in a joint police and military predawn drug raid in Maguing, Lanao del Sur on Tuesday.

Authorities identified the slain suspects as Cairodin and Pango Anto, residents of Barangay Bato-Bato, Maguing town.

Police said that a composite team of members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the Philippine Army's 103rd Brigade killed the two suspects during the implementation of search warrants.

Aside from Cairodin, the local court also issued search warrants against two other suspects identified as Baulo Anto and Sultan Abdullah Pundogar, of Barngay Malingon.

Police said that Cairodin, Baulo and Pundogar were trading drugs for the Maute group, allegedly affiliated with the ISIS terror group.

Authorities said that the suspects fired at the raiding teams which resulted in a firefight.

Two Army members were wounded in the encounter.

It was not yet clear if Baulo Anto and Pundogar were arrested during the raid.

Police said they seized an M16 rifle, pieces of magazine assembly for M14 rifle, two rifle grenades, several ammunitions and four sachets of suspected shabu.
