From the Philippine News Agency (Nov 22): 16 ex-NPAs get over PHP1-M worth of cash aid, other benefits from gov't's CLIP
With government and rebels now in the midst of peace negotiations, 16 former New People's Army (NPA) members, who earlier surrendered to live in peace with their loved ones, have received PHP1.105 million worth of cash assistance and other benefits from the Comprehensive Local Integration Program (CLIP) in Davao Del Norte Monday.
The event took place at the Girl Scouts of the Philippines Training Hall, Capitol Compound, Mankilam, Tagum City.
Davao Del Norte Governor Anthony del Rosario spearheaded the distribution of cash assistance to the former rebels while heads of different CLIP implementing agencies were also present to assist the ex-NPAs in the next stage of implementation phase where they are expected to execute their respective integration and livelihood plans determined during the earlier phases of the program.
The CLIP is a government initiative that seeks to permanently and peacefully end all armed conflicts with armed groups specifically the NPA.
