Six armed men who introduced themselves as New People's Army
(NPA) rebels shot dead a man wanted for forcible abduction and rape in Barangay
Madbad, Cawayan, Masbate at about 5 p.m.
Saturday.
A police report said Michael E. Olanga, 25, a resident of
the village, was going home with his live-in partner Glacel Abayon when the
alleged rebels stopped his motorcycle, asked Abayon to alight and shot the
victim.
The report said the killers were armed with high-powered
firearms, which they used to execute their target.
The armed men, however, spared Abayon.
An investigation of the Cawayan Municipal Police Station
showed that Olanga had a standing warrant of arrest for forcible abduction with
rape from the Masbate Regional Trial Court and that the NPA rebels had earlier
warned that they would execute Olanga who was allegedly involved in various
crimes, including illegal drug trade and rape.
