Troopers from the 84th Infantry Battalion have seized two
New People's Army (NPA) weapons during an encounter in Tugbok District, Davao City
Sunday.
The encounter took place around 12 noon and lasted for five
minutes, 10th Infantry Division public affairs office chief 1st Lt. Alexandre
Cabales said.
The firefight stemmed from ongoing pursuit operations
against five NPA fighters who broke-off from a larger rebel group during an
encounter two days ago.
“They were forced to leave their firearms as the troops
continue to advance towards them,” 84th Infantry Battalion commander Lt. Col.
Louie DS Villanueva said.
Seized were an M-16 rifle and a carbine. No one was reported
hurt nor killed among the pursuing government troops.
