The relentless campaign of the Philippine National Police
(PNP) to put all wanted persons behind bars through the Operation Lambat Sibat
is continuously gaining headway with the arrest of a former rebel and one of
the most wanted criminals in the province.
Police Senior Supt. Danilo M. Florentino, newly-designated
officer-in-charge of the Aurora Police Provincial Office (APPO), disclosed
Wednesday the arrest of Evangeline Engaran, 41, also known as Neneng/Joy and a
former member of the New People’s Army (NPA) of the Aurora Provincial Party
Committee (APCOM) and no. 2 most wanted criminal in the province.
Tolentino said Engaran was arrested Monday in Barangay
Culat, Casiguran town led by Police Inspector Dennis R. Balbuena, Dilasag town
acting Chief of Police.
The move was made by virtue of warrant of arrest issued by
Corazon D. Soluren, presiding judge RTC Branch 96, Baler, Aurora for the crime
of murder under Criminal Case No. 3483 dated November 11, 2005.
The suspect is now under the custody of Dilasag Municipal
Police Station for documentation and proper disposition.
Tolentino said the full implementation of the Operation
Lambat Sibat is one of his priority missions in the province.
Under the Lambat Sibat, each police station is required to
report accurate data to monitor the peace and order situation in their
respective areas.
”The move is aimed in combating crimes through deliberate,
programmatic and systematic approach. The formulation of comprehensive and
effective security measures and plans in combating criminality are vital in
crime solutions,” he added.
