From MindaNews (Nov 19): 10 soldiers injured as truck plunges into ravine in Zambo Sur

Ten soldiers, including an officer, were injured Monday when the vehicle they were riding plunged into a deep ravine in the town of Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur, a military official disclosed.

Capt. Franco Suelto, information officer of the Army’s 1st Infantry “Tabak” Division, said the incident took place around 2:30 p.m. Monday in Barangay Anonang, Aurora.

He did not release the identities of the victims except to say they belong to the Army’s 52nd Engineering Brigade.

The injured soldiers were taken to a hospital in the town of Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte.

Suelto said the soldiers were aboard a military truck traveling from the Tabak Division headquarters in Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur to the 52nd Engineering Brigade headquarters in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, when the vehicle’s brake malfunctioned while traversing a blind curve.

The vehicle plunged into a ravine when the driver lost control of the steering wheel.
